8 September to 23 September 2012:- I will be taking part in Devon Open Studios with artist Penny Hardy www.pennyhardysculpture.com. You will find us at The Oyster House, Riverside Road West, Newton Ferrers, PL8 1AZ. I will be exhibiting drawings and watercolour paintings, prints, postcards and greetings cards, all of which will be for sale. I will be there from 11.00 - 18.00 EXCEPT Monday and Tuesday of both weeks.

October 2012 Autumn Half Term. Sea Magic will be the 11th Big Draw event I have organised as Resident Artist at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, Devon. I will be working on this over the coming months and will post dates and activities nearer the time.


Exhibitions and Books.

October 2009:- sketchbook cover design Drawn to Darwin for the Big Draw event at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth.

2008:- Natural History Painting by Rosie Martin and Meriel Thurstan was published. This book contains 11 pieces of my work, both sketchbook and watercolour paintings and a contribution to the text.

2003 – 2011 organised the Big Draw – a 7 day event during October half term for 10 consecutive years. - Joint Winner of the Drawing Inspiration Award Walker Books Prize for ‘best event for under 14s’ outside formal education’ in 2003.

March 2006 - October 2007:- Artist in Residence at Cotehele Gallery, Cotehele House, St Dominick, Cornwall.

8 September to 28 October 2007:- Exhibited in Autumn Glow at Cotehele Gallery, watercolour paintings of plants.

August 2006:- produced 3 card designs based on the living plants which are grown and dried for the Christmas Garland – commissioned by Cotehele Gallery.

22 July to 6 September 2006:- Exhibited in Aquamarine at Cotehele Gallery, watercolour paintings of marine life.

10 June to 19 July 2006:- Exhibited in Wild at Cotehele Gallery, watercolour paintings of plants.

16 May to 23 July 2003:- Exhibited collection of marine and plant paintings at the Waterfront Gallery, National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth.

31 March to 7 May 2002:- Exhibited at Cheng-Kim Loke Wildlife Art Gallery, WWT Slimbridge. A collection of 31 paintings of marine life and plants with a connection to water. Featuring Irises, Marsh Marigolds, and Ladies Smock.

5 May to 31 July 2000 (extended to September 2000):- ‘beneath the blue-green waters’ solo exhibition in the Waterfront Gallery, National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, a collection of 20 paintings of marine life found in the Aquarium.

August 2000:- Below the Waves article published in Artists and illustrators magazine.

September 1999 to July 2000 – Artist in Residence at the National Marine Aquarium.

1995 – Exhibition at the Framing Shop. Plymouth – paintings of marine life.

November 6 to November 27 1992 - Exhibition at the Library Gallery, University of Odense, Denmark. 20 watercolour paintings of marine life and wild flowers.

June 27 to August 30 1992 – ‘Fjorden gennem tusind år’ (1000 years of the fjord).I was commissioned by the The Johannes Larsen & Kerteminde Museum to paint 7 watercolour paintings of marine animals for the above exhibition which celebrated life in and around the fjord during the last thousand years. One of the paintings was chosen to advertise the exhibition and the original was then purchased by the museum for their permanent collection.

1988 – Sole illustrator for the book ‘Partnerships in the Sea’ by Professor B.S. Morton, Hong Kong University Press, Hong Kong (1988)

1979 – Black and white drawings of bats for guide to Living Mammals, 2nd Edition, JA Webb, JA Wallwork and J Ellgood.
